Mini Melodies brings music into pre-school education!
Mini Melodies is a privately owned company which provides fun, educational music classes to all children below school age.
Mini Melodies firmly believes that music should be accessible to all children as it plays a key role in a child’s early development. For this reason Mini Melodies is keen to bring it’s teaching into nurseries and playgroups within Ipswich and its surrounding areas.
Mini Melodies aims to extend the key areas of learning, as recommended by The Early Years Foundation Stage which sets Standards for Learning, Development and Care for children from birth to five (DfES 2007).

These all take place through singing, listening, movement and creativity, whilst maintaining play and fun as the core part of each session throughout. Key elements of music such as pulse, rhythm, pitch, dynamics, tempo and timbre are all present and developed upon within each class.
• Singing focuses on using fun, simple songs and concentrates on the use of phonics, rhyme, colour and number. It uses actions and props to support the learning.
• Listening enhances concentration skills and through the introduction of different music styles and genres encourages imagination and also respect and understanding.
• Movement is provided through dance and moving to music. This supports co-ordination and provides a positive sense of well being.
• Creativity is a key area of the music session. The children will develop their own understanding of music using their voices, bodies and percussion instruments, and are encouraged to explore their own diversities and talents.
Over each term every child will:
- Develop a confidence in their own abilites
- Develop a respect for their own and others cultures and beliefs
- Learn by interacting with others
- Learn to take turns and share
- Show a sense of pride in their own achievements
- Develop their own independence
- Take pleasure in making and listening to a wide variety of sounds
Mini Melodies works closely with the nursery in order to obtain a clear provision of need for every child within the setting.
Suitable props and percussion instruments are provided and music from different genres play a vital role in enhancing the childrens' awareness of other cultures. (Mini is an Afro-Caribbean puppet and is always present at the sessions to encourage participation of the children).
Mini Melodies provides quality music sessions and the following pricing structure shows that fees are both competitive and fair with consideration for the smaller and self-funding childcare establishments.
Nursery Fees:
Classes up to 20 = £39 per 40 minute session
Classes of 21-25 = £43 per 40 minute session
Classes of 26-30 = £48 per 40 minute session
Classes over 30 are recommended to be split, but if taken back to back warrant a discount.
Please note: In order to provide good progression and advancement in learning, it is recommended that classes should take place weekly or fortnightly.
